VINAY KUMAR R the speedstar of karnataka

Ranganath Vinay Kumar (born 12 February 1984 in Davanagere) is a cricket player from the state of Karnataka, India. In the Indian Premiere League he plays for the Royal Challengers Bangalore Team(RCB).He recently got selected for the Indian T20 squad which will travel to the West Indies. This is a lucky break for the 26 year old as he made his debut in the 2001 Ranji season and since then he wasn't picked for the Indian squad, but now after a long time after he made his debut, he has been selected. He has also played for the South T20 team. A natural wicket-taker, he relies on swing and accuracy rather than express pace, and is consistenly around the 130km mark. After his impressive performances for both Karnataka and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he seems to be yet another of many of India's fast-bowling talents, with the likes of Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Sreesanth, Munaf Patel and Ashish Nehra. He has the ability to move the ball both ways, and averages under 25 in all forms of the games, ideal for a fast-bowler. He is also a more than capable batsman, with one first-class fifty, and two limited over fifties, a talent which most Indian pacemen have lacked in recent times.

Vinay Kumar was the chief beneficiary of IPL 2010 as he earned his first call-up to the Indian team. His ticket to the West Indies for the ICC World Twenty20 was a deserved opportunity and one long overdue.
Despite strong Ranji Trophy showings, he had seen bowlers get into the Indian team on the back of their IPL performances. But, in this season, he honed his craft and finished the fifth highest wicket-taker. Noticeable were the addition of an effective inswinger and a bag of tricks so pertinent to the demands of Twenty20 cricket. What he lacked in pace, Vinay more than made up for with unlimited heart.
